You know, in most cases before we get anything, we have to ask for it. Right from the time we're little kids, we get things by asking. But somewhere along the way, we lose the ability, or the want, to ask.

Things come to you much more quickly when you ask, but for a number of different reasons, many people just don't want to ask for what they need. Yet look what happened in a question put to executives working for a major airline.

When asked "if you couldn't find some information that you were supposed to have, but your colleague across the hall had it, how many of you would walk across the hall and ask for it?"

Most people said that they would take at least 15 minutes to look for the information because they didn't want to look stupid. Yet when you add it up, that 15 minutes might have cost you or the company hundreds of dollars worth of time because you didn't want to look stupid.

How does this relate to marketing? Easy! Business is simply about supplying the customer with what they want. The easiest way to find out what they want is to ask, and yet so many people in a sales environment feel the need to go through some fancy technique to get the sale!

Just ask - it's saves time, it gets to the heart of the matter, and it's honest.
